I think I need to blame facebook friends like Darrin Eichorn for this humble attempt at poetic expression (creativity just pours out of that guy and after awhile it makes you want to join the game). But it’s also the whole Goshen arts community. Thanks to all the good people at the Mayor’s Arts Council (and beyond), this just feels like the kind of city where even a councilwoman is encouraged to play with words…
City Council

Like Double Dutch rhythm, a twirling rope
Motion, second, discussion, vote
Listening, nodding, making a move
Acting like you’ve got nothing to prove
Winning or losing and learning to cope
Motion, second, discussion, vote
Like getting a foot on the escalator
Missed that step, catch you later
Amendments and reconsiderations
Wait. That’s a new iteration
Request for information: How does this go?
I was sure you were a “yes”; I’m surprised by the “no”

You are indeed a poetic council woman. So delighted that you commit much of your love, creativity and thoughtfulness to public service!!
Thanks for the affirmation, Barb! Your always-generous spirit serves Goshen well!
